Iditarod

    Alaska Mushers | Iditarod

I was given the privilege by our innovation team at Columbia Sportswear to jump in a bush plane for 10+ days and chase Mushers as they participated in one of the worlds toughest races ever held. The Iditarod. It started in Anchorage, Alaska and ended on the eastern most seaboard of Gnome, Alaska. It was arguably one of the most grueling yet rewarding trips I had ever been on. In order to get into certain zones, we had to make the bush plane/Cessna as light as possible. Which meant dumping our extra gear and fuel. There were times, we were landing 10 times in the same area(packing a runway) in order to double check the open rivers we were landing on were safe enough to put the plane down and take off. After that we launched drones into zones to scout Mushers and as they approached, we were able to utilize 600mm Canon Lenses on the Phantom Miro to film the dogs teams at 1,500 frames per second.
